This is the WCMB-TV transmitter building, built by
the Lebanon Steel Building Company in 1954. (See
miscellaneous invoices.) It has
not been used for broadcasting since WCMB-TV went dark in 1957. The site
changed hands several times over the decades and was recently purchased by Crown
Castle. It is used for cellular and other wireless communications
services.
The original
tower was demolished on June 5, 1957, soon after WCMB-TV's last broadcast.
The transmitter and
antenna were utilized by WTPA-TV
for their conversion to channel 27 on June 1, 1957.
